Yesterday was Sunday. So it was holiday! We went to Alexandria and Georgetown with mentors. We met at QI at 10 am. The long and wonderful trip was started! The town was so beautiful. And we went to Christ Church. I talked with Weber who was in Christ Church. He knows about Japan very well. For example, he knows “Hokusai” who was famous old Japanese painter. I was glad to talk about Japan. Next we went to restaurant with Mike. We ate hamburger. It was so delicious and a little expensive. The most exciting program was boat trip! It was really cool! I took many photos! We also enjoy shopping! I bought a light blue short-sleeved shirt. Some of friends bought sunglasses. They look so cool. Then I tried it, but I didn’t look nice. So I gave up buying it. After shopping, we walked so long. We become tired, and we went to Chinese restaurant. Strangely there was Japanese food! I ordered “Shrimp Tempura Roll”. So I enjoyed so much and slept very well!

That's great you got to talk to the people at the church service. Hokusai is an admired artist even in the U.S.
You still have a long time to find sunglasses so take your time looking for a pair.

First of all, I'm glad to know that you slept well. :) Looking back, sleeping well during the trip was one of the important things for me. It gave me the energy for the next day!
Also, Shopping in Georgetown sounds really nice and it seems that you enjoyed shopping very much! That's nice!

As I told you today in class, I love Hokusai's painting. I saw a lot of his work at a special exhibition at the National Gallery of Art a few years ago. (Or maybe it was the Sackler Gallery. I forget.)
I am glad you thought your tempura roll was tasty, because it can be risky to eat your country's food in another country. Since it is prepared to suit the taste of people here, it often is not what you expect!
